National NGO · Kenya
CRAH is a registered national non-governmental organisation dedicated to food security, sustainable livelihoods, and community development across Kenya and Eastern Africa.
Our Focus AreasWho We Are
CRAH is a national NGO registered under Kenya's NGO registration laws, addressing food security at national and county government levels while partnering with stakeholders across Eastern Africa. Our team brings expertise in agriculture, livestock, fisheries value chains, climate smart innovation, small-holder irrigation, and community mobilisation.
To be the leading NGO in the war against hunger — building a future where no community in Kenya or Eastern Africa goes without.
To provide leadership and encourage partnership in eliminating hunger by inspiring, informing, and enabling communities to improve quality of life and create wealth without compromising the environment for future generations.
Focus Areas
Climate-smart approaches to improve livelihoods, increase productivity, and strengthen food security through technology transfer, early warning systems, and effective extension services.
Supporting conservation, sustainable land use, agroforestry projects, urban afforestation, and clean energy technologies including solar lamp adoption for lake fishing communities.
Promoting inclusive governance and social wellbeing — ensuring persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, widows, the elderly, and youth are active participants in economic and social development.
On-farm demonstrations, farmer-to-farmer learning exchanges, e-extension platforms, and training materials that put actionable knowledge directly in the hands of smallholders and fishing communities.
Our Goal
CRAH's overall goal is to reduce poverty and improve the livelihoods of target communities — empowering rural people by strengthening grassroots capacity and linking them with local institutions for sustainable economic outcomes.
On the Ground
Delivering tree seedlings to primary schools and supporting pupils in establishing school woodlots — combining environmental education with practical conservation action at the grassroots level.
Demonstrating best-practice sorghum cultivation alongside low-cost post-harvest and threshing technologies to reduce loss and improve smallholder income across the region.
Supporting the indigenous poultry sector from production through to market, improving household incomes and nutrition for rural families through structured value chain development.
Introducing rechargeable solar lamps to fishing communities on Lake Victoria, reducing reliance on kerosene, extending fishing hours, and improving safety and livelihoods for Mfangano Island fisherfolk.
Collaborating with WFP and county departments of agriculture to distribute drying tarpaulins, weighing scales, and other post-harvest tools — reducing food loss and improving market access for smallholders.
